Parasite Testing and Natural Gut Support

Most parasite advice online sells you a cleanse without ever finding out whether you have anything. We start with a stool test that identifies parasites, yeast, bacteria and fungi, then build the plan from what it actually found.

Stool testing identifies parasites, yeast, bacteria and fungi before any protocol begins. Personalized natural support from Dr. Kathleen Jones.

Search for parasites online and almost everything you find is a cleanse for sale. A blend of herbs, a fourteen day protocol, a promise. Almost none of it begins by finding out whether you have anything, or what it is.

We start the other way round. As Dr. Kathleen Jones puts it on her own services page: “I won’t guess about what your state of health is.”

Consultations are virtual or by phone, so you can work with Dr. Jones from anywhere in the United States.

The symptoms people bring to us

These are the patterns that make people start looking into parasites. None of them confirms anything on its own, which is exactly why testing comes first.

  • Digestive symptoms that started after travel and never fully settled

  • Bloating, cramping or loose stools with no clear trigger

  • Symptoms that followed a course of antibiotics

  • Fatigue that arrived alongside the digestive changes

  • Skin irritation, itching or rashes with no explanation

  • Food reactions that keep widening

  • Results that came back normal while the symptoms continued

Why we test instead of guessing

A parasite cleanse taken on suspicion has two problems. If nothing is there, you have treated a condition you do not have and the real cause is still waiting. If something is there, a general herbal blend may not be the right match for it.

Testing turns the question into an answer. It also tells us what else is going on in the gut at the same time, which is usually where the fuller explanation sits.

What a stool test actually shows

A stool test is the most direct look at the digestive system. At Elements of Health it is used to uncover:

  • Parasites and yeast. Whether something is present, rather than assuming it is.

  • Bacteria and fungi. The balance of what is growing, including overgrowth after antibiotics.

  • Enzyme counts. Whether food is being broken down properly in the first place.

  • Inflammation levels. How irritated the gut lining is right now.

  • Food allergies. Reactions that can look like an infection and are not.

Depending on your symptoms, Dr. Jones may also draw on saliva, urine, hair or blood testing. You can see the full range of diagnostic testing for the detail on each one.

What testing does not replace

Some parasitic infections need prescription antiparasitic medication from a physician, not a nutritional protocol. If testing points to one of those, that is what we will tell you, and that is where you should go.

Do not wait on any of the following. See a physician or urgent care promptly:

  • Blood in the stool

  • High fever alongside digestive symptoms

  • Severe or persistent diarrhea, or signs of dehydration

  • Severe abdominal pain

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Symptoms that began after travel to a high risk area and are getting worse

This page is about identifying what is there and supporting the body nutritionally. It is not a substitute for medical care when medical care is what is needed.

Why “normal” results may not mean healthy

Most lab reports compare your results against a normal range. Those ranges are built by each individual laboratory from roughly one to two hundred people who had testing done recently, most of whom were being tested because something was already wrong. Their results are averaged and the range extends two standard deviations either side.

So a normal result means you are not yet as unwell as the people used to build the range. That is a low bar, and it is why so many people with real digestive symptoms are told nothing is wrong.

What happens after your results come in

When the results are in, Dr. Jones prepares a personalized report. It includes a copy of every result, an explanation of what each one means, and the plan that follows from it.

  • What the testing found, in plain language

  • Whether anything identified needs a physician rather than a nutritional plan

  • Nutrients, vitamins and dietary changes chosen for your findings and circumstances

  • Lifestyle adjustments that support recovery

  • Repeat testing so you can see the change side by side against your baseline

As her testing page puts it, once results are scanned for imbalances or deficiencies, nutritional supports are tested for your body, and a personalized protocol is formulated from your own results.

You are not left alone with the plan

  • A health coach to support you between appointments.

  • Healthie. 24/7 access and unlimited messaging with your doctor.

  • Progress tracking. A collaborative online tool for communication, education and following the plan.

  • Virtual visits. Appointments by video or phone, scheduled in advance.

How do I know if I actually have a parasite?

You do not, until it is tested. Symptoms overlap with a long list of other causes, from bacterial overgrowth to food reactions to low enzyme output. A stool test is what separates them.

Should I just do a parasite cleanse instead?

If nothing is there, a cleanse treats a condition you do not have while the real cause continues. If something is there, the right support depends on what it is. Testing first costs you a few weeks and saves you from guessing.

Can I do this if I am not in Ohio?

Yes. Consultations are virtual or by phone anywhere in the United States, and functional lab testing is completed at home or through local labs.

What if the test finds something that needs a doctor?

Then we say so. Some parasitic infections require prescription antiparasitic medication from a physician. Identifying that is part of the point of testing.

My regular test came back normal. Is that the end of it?

Not necessarily. Standard panels are narrower than a comprehensive stool analysis, and normal ranges are built from people who were already unwell. Normal is not the same as optimal.

How long before I know anything?

Testing is arranged after your first consultation. Once results are back, Dr. Jones prepares a personalized report and reviews it with you, with a written plan you keep.
