Virtual Naturopathic Care Across the United States

The question most people have about virtual naturopathic care is whether the testing still works when you are not in the room. It does, and that is the part worth explaining before anything else.

Online naturopathic consultations nationwide. Lab testing completed at home or locally, with a personalized plan from Dr. Kathleen Jones, DC and ND.

Who works with Dr. Jones virtually

Patients come to us with concerns that have usually been going on for a while, and that have often been dismissed as stress or ageing:

  • Hormonal imbalance and menopause symptoms

  • Digestive issues, bloating and food reactions

  • Fatigue and low energy that rest does not fix

  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed

  • Sleep that breaks through the night

  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating

  • Inflammation

  • Unexplained or long standing symptoms

Care is tailored to your history, your goals and your daily life. As Dr. Jones puts it, "I won't guess about your health."

The question everyone asks: how does testing work if I am not in the room?

This is the reason most people hesitate about virtual care, and it deserves a straight answer.

Functional lab testing is completed at home or through a local lab near you. Saliva, hair and stool samples are collected at home and sent directly to the lab. Blood and urine work is done at a draw centre close to where you live. Results come back to Dr. Jones, who reviews them with you on your next call.

Nothing about the depth of testing changes because the appointment is online. You can see the full range of diagnostic testing that may apply to your case.

What happens in your consultation

A full look at your health history

Dr. Jones takes the time to understand the whole picture rather than the presenting symptom. What you eat, how you sleep, what your stress looks like, what medications you take and what has already been tried.

Testing chosen for your case

Which tests apply depends on your symptoms and goals. Saliva for hormones and adrenal function, a comprehensive blood panel for thyroid and nutrient status, stool testing for digestive concerns, hair analysis for heavy metals and minerals, and Electro Dermal Screening.

Your personalized report

When results are in, you receive a written report with every result, an explanation of what each one means, and a complete plan. It is built through the Science Based Nutrition program and includes supplement recommendations with dosages specific to your findings, age, sex and weight, dietary recommendations with recipes, and a color coded comparison against previous results.

Support between appointments

A health coach works alongside you, and Healthie gives you 24/7 access and unlimited messaging with your doctor. Virtual care does not mean you are on your own between visits.

Why "normal" results may not mean healthy

Most lab reports compare your results against a "normal range." If you fall inside it you are usually told you are normal, which is easily confused with being healthy.

Normal ranges are calculated by each individual laboratory, not a central agency, using roughly 100 to 200 people who had testing done recently. Most of those people were being tested precisely because they already had a health problem. Their results are averaged, and the range extends two standard deviations either side.

So a normal result means only that you are not yet as unwell as the people used to build the range. It is the most common reason patients arrive here after being told nothing is wrong.

Areas of focus

Most of the work falls into three areas, each with its own approach and testing:

How does lab testing work if my appointment is online?

Saliva, hair and stool samples are collected at home and sent directly to the lab. Blood and urine work is completed at a draw centre near you. Results go to Dr. Jones, who reviews them with you on your next call.

Can a naturopathic doctor really help me without seeing me in person?

Most of what guides the plan comes from your health history and your lab results, not a physical exam. Virtual visits also tend to be longer and easier to schedule, which means more time spent on the detail.

Which states do you serve?

Consultations are available across the United States. The practice is based in Columbus, Ohio, and works regularly with patients in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Washington and elsewhere.

What happens in the first consultation?

Dr. Jones reviews your full health history, discusses what may be contributing to your symptoms, and decides which testing applies to your case. You leave knowing what is being investigated and why.

How do I get support between appointments?

Through Healthie, which gives you 24/7 access and unlimited messaging with your doctor. A health coach also works alongside you.

My results came back normal but I still feel unwell. Why?

Normal ranges are calculated by each laboratory from roughly 100 to 200 people who were being tested because they already had a health concern. A normal result means you are not yet as unwell as that group. It does not mean your levels are optimal for you.

What does a consultation include?

A detailed discussion of your health history, functional lab testing completed at home or locally, personalized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, supplement guidance where appropriate, and follow up consultations for ongoing support.
